Get Going!
It's a new year, it's follow-up-on-commitments-time! In the last week, despite the holiday, I have received numerous emails from loyal readers (thank you, loyal readers for writing), about one of my objectives in '09, which was to use LinkedIn more effectively to build and maintain my network. Not only did some of the comments include those who said they were going to do the same, I also received numerous invitations from readers to "Link-In". Thank you for that.
I'm happy to report to you that I went through my entire database (not an easy feat) and sent invitations to hundreds of people. My network has expanded tremendously due to the acceptance of those who were invited. Also, many people responded with kind notes, best wishes, and more. It's been a fun week of connecting! Mission accomplished! However, this is ongoing activity and from now on, Linking-in with new contacts will be easy.

Now, what else is on my list, you ask? Here are some ideas and maybe you can use these in your sales activities:

1. I'm personally going to get on the telephone and find out what our client's plans are for '09. In each call, I'm going to provide them with a lead to get more business. Who are you going to call? Make a list.

2.  We're going to build partnerships and alliances with those who are in complimentary businesses. In fact, on March 13th, one new partner (Peak10) and SalesPEAK are having a Boot Camp seminar in Atlanta to help businesspeople boost their sales. (email us at: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it for more info. on this.) Who can you partner with? Make a commitment.

3.  I'm going to continue to write "sales tips" every week. Ideas to help our clients, prospects, and other business owners grow their sales. Sharing information is another way to add value and increase visibility as well as sales. Start your own ezine and distribute it to your customers. This is a far better use of your time than blogging. It's personal. Customers like that!

4.  Another commitment I've already started is to work with a coach to polish my skills. She is assisting me in boosting my abilities using my natural talents. Are you planning on using a coach in '09? What skills do you need help developing (prospecting, up selling, qualifying, objection handling, closing)?

5. I'm increasing my technical knowledge. By understanding how to use more the tools available through the Internet and even on my own computer, will provide me with more opportunities to expand creatively. What about you? Are you learning a new process, utilizing different websites, or developing the "technical" side of your brain?

So there you have it. A few ideas to GET GOING in 2009. I'm optimistic. This is going to be the best year, ever!
